I just wanted to know if I was able to block websites using the proxy server
itself...

You can block websites with the Squid proxy server but as far as I know not
things like p2p networks.
There is a guide to doing it at
http://www.linux-magazine.com/issue/60/Squid_Proxy_Server.pdf from the
November 2005 Linux Magazine that might be of help.
