James if you would like a copy of Kubuntu 6.06 I have the disk ( and the 
ISO )

If you decide to install Ubuntu and want KDE, instead of Gnome you 
should be able to install kde 3.5.x via apt-get ( or your favorite 
package manager if you don't feel like typing ) :)
(note: it might be a bit large if you're on dialup )

Hopefully that would give you a choice of Gnome or KDE desktop at boot 
up time, though I haven't tried this. Others in the LUG may have done 
this....
