The Desktop (live) CD has a Live CD enviroment and a graphical
installed which by experience we have found to be pretty dodgy.

The alternate CD has the old text based installer, is more rock solid,
has more advanced options (LVM, RAID etc) and can be used to upgrade
systems running breezy or older.
