Thanks for the advice in relation to putting Ubuntu on an Eee PC and in 
the relation to dealing with the small solid state disk capacity.

I have decided to wait for the soon to be released Eee PC 900 because 
the larger screen will mean that I won't need to buy new glasses! It has 
considerably better specifications than the current models, thereby 
dealing with some of my earlier concerns.
