Absolutely!
And there's a How-To for transferring the CD Image onto a bootable
Thumbdrive, so you can install without an external CD-Rom :)
A clean Ubuntu 8.04 install leaves around 1.3-1.5GB free (Cant remember
exactly), and I doubt its gonna grow too much over the next few version
releases.

I HIGHLY recommend you use the RiceeeyTweak script post-installation. It
configures everything brilliantly and gets the likes of Wifi & ACPI working
without a hitch!
