If you're going to stick with the default Xandros, then yeah, thats about
right.
If you're going to install Ubuntu 8.04 (Ive been through multiple distros
including Ubuntu Mobile, EeeDora, some Security-related distros, XP, and
8.04 wins hands down for me) then you can easily have over 1.5GB free.
For the price of an 8GB SDHC card ($50?) I wouldnt be too worried about
getting an 8GB EeePC. The Transcend Class6 8GB SDHC cards are supported
well:

The EeePC can be a bit funny about certain SDHC cards, so stick with the
above, User manual says its gauranteed to work.
Provided you're not planning on keeping Movies & stick to just one or two
music files, then you'd be amazed at how long that 1.5GB will probably last
you! :)
Hope this helps
Chill.
BTW - I really dont care if my grammar isnt 100%. This is the internet, not
a legal document ;)
