I am considering purchasing an Eee PC model 701 while it is still on 
special. I would be using it for the sole purpose of portable word 
processing to avoid the inconvenience of carrying my existing laptop.

When I looked at one, it appeared to be running a watered down version 
of Xandros. The version of Open Office was 2.0.4 which is about two 
years old.

Would it be easy to install the latest version of Open Office (Version 
2.4) and, later, Version 3.0?

My experience with linux is minimal.
