[AuckLUG] TV card follow-up

Thanks to everyone for suggestions regarding a TV card.
It was an older model from DSE than the current ones in there.

After several attempts to get it going I've given up.
Having read a few things it seems that only messing with the kernel
could 'possible' get it going - and I'm not confident enough to start
doing that.

I tried my ATI All-in-wonder in there too.
The card worked (but the TV aspect is not supported).
Anyway, ATI kept locking up so I swapped that for a GeForce6800 -
works well :-)

When I'm at my house in Paihia we can't get Prime - so whether I would
even want to see what's on TV is possibly a redundant question anyway!
lol

For audio I've used a Creative Audigy 2 ZS - which wasn't detected at
first, but after taking it out, reboooting, putting it back ,
rebooting it seems fine (haven't tested out optical in and suchlike
yet though).

So, I now have a powerful Ubuntu desktop.
It's been christened 'The Borg' (it's a completely clear case with lit
fans and uv tubes, lol).
P4 3.2GHz, 3Gb RAM, 4x Seagate Barracuda SATA 120Gb (was going to be
RAID, but Asus P4C800-E is a PITA for that, so I'll probably look at a
software raid solution - it's only a home PC at the end of the day).
Creative webcam worked after visiting webcam2.

Because I have some clients that don't know better I have to use
Windows still for one or two things.
I was testing out Qemu, and found it a bit awkward. Read a couple of
forums...
I can HIGHLY recommend Virtualbox - it's just so easy! (Very much like
Parallels on OSX if you know it?)
On this box Windows XP flies along.

Stuart
