The next ones to check would be also /var/log/cups/error_log
and /var/log/cups/access_log.

One thing I've found quite useful while debugging printer problems is to look
at /var/log/cups/error_log while a print job is being submitted/processed.

Unfortunately that involves the command line again the way I did it. Open a
terminal window (konsole, xterm, eterm, ...) and issue this on the command
line:

tail -f /var/log/cups/error_log

I usually after that hit the return key a couple of times to be able to better
see where the new output appears. Submit a print job and watch the output.

If you're done, just hit CTRL-C to interrupt the tail command for output.

Maybe that will spit out some error message along that may be helpful in
tracking down the problem.

(Comand line-esque)
