Hi Zed,

Did you added your local printer via the GUI or command promt?
I had a same problem while ago - I tried to get my RedHat working with a
colour printer, I added the printer as the local printer via the GUI
followed all steps it prompted, but it didn't work. I therefore checked
the configuration file under /etc and the printer was not there! Finally
I needed to manually edit the config file and it works for the text
file.  
Did you check your configuration under the /etc dir yet?

Haven't got any idea though. Can you please check two things:

1. Check the log for any related errors, /var/log/....   or
/var/spool/lpd...... or somewhere under this folder;

2. Try to print a plain text file, and check that the file has been sent
to printing job queue which located under the folder /var/spool/  

Any other ideas guys?

On 7 Feb I sent a very long email to the group regarding problems I was
having in getting a HP Color LaserJet 5M working with LinuxMINT.  I
think
the message is still somewhere in cyberspace, as I cannot believe

of the group are unable to offer advice.

Briefly.  I bought a secondhand HP Color LaserJet 5M, after checking
that
it worked with Linux.  Despite all my efforts to get it to work, I have
not succeeded.  I have tried both the cljet5 and hpljs drivers, without
success.

It works perfectly under Windows XP.

Is there any member who lives in the West Auckland area  - I live in
Henderson - who would be willing to come along and assist me to get this
printer installed correctly, because I'm obviously doing something
wrong. 
I am quite happy to pay for the service.
