Hay Dan,
Just wanted to clarify - What version of VMware are you running. Before you
remove the tick from " Disable autorun on host" your Guest OS must be turned
off (Ubuntu Virtual machine turned off).
I have VM Workstation 6.0.2. Tried to replicate problem which you are
facing. didn't seem to have problem. May be try to update VM software.
