Sorry did not mean to infer that Slingshot was rebooting my PC. Was trying to
say that I seemed to have lost my Kmail access( only re obtained by logging
on) which I presumed *could* be the result of a problem at Slingshot. On the
other hand my wifes PC had rebooted for some reason and the presumption was a
power outage.
I did not write it as I should have...hence the confusion.-in my mind and
those that tried to make sense of what I wrote :-(

I think maybe it is "somebody" trying to tell my wife that Kubuntu is on her
machine for a reason and to give it a try :-P I'm pretty sure she has turned
off automatic updates but if not I'll soon sort that!!

I suspect the two problems are not related and maybe my Kmail problem is
similar to yours...obviously I can now do a bit more digging there and try
the forums. If not I'll do a fresh install and see if that fixes things.

Glad to hear it..I only added it in case it helped to identify an issue. I'm
not that keen on sorting the Windoze issue myself either. Oh..hang on this is
the woman I married maybe I should be more keen?
