[AuckLUG] Two questions

Folks: I didn't realize how much effort went into maintaining the list 
and keeping it operating, may I add my thanks to those who worked hard 
to get the list up and running again after the outages.

I have a question about downloads. I like to put all y downloads in a 
folder in case I need to re-install them. In Windows I have a folder 
simply labeled  'downloads'. Where is the best place to put my downloads 
in Linux (Ubuntu 6.10), I don't like the idea of cluttering up my desktop.

Can I also poll your collective wisdom on broadband.  I am still getting 
nowhere with Woosh and expect any moment to read they've gone under. 
Despite this I am still interested in broadband and wonder what your 
experiences are; the type of broadband and which ISP?
