*gasp*

Archala - you should never post personal details like this to a
mailing list. The list is searchable by google and is archived for
historical reference. Any details you wouldn't give to a stranger
should never be posted to a mailing list. I.e. No phone numbers,
addresses, turn-on's etc. Just don't do it!

Could one of the admins perhaps do something about it?

When someone invites you to "respond with your name" or something
along those lines, it is best NOT to send it to the whole mailing
list, but rather send it directly to the person who posted the notice.

I.e. In this case, most of the emails as part of this thread should've
been sent to c.mills at auckland.ac.nz NOT aucklug at linux.net.nz

This helps un-clutter mailing lists of stuff that no one else except
for you and the recipiant are interested in. Remember, there are
probably near a couple of hundred people on this mailing list and
raising hands and doing a "me too" email is of very little interested
to 99.9% of these people.

Regards,
Nevyn.
