This is just not true. With the player you solely cannot create fresh images
or modify basic properties of the operating system instance through the
provided GUI.
If you can get/create a blank image, then you can do pretty much everything
with the player you can do with the workstation version. You may just need to
tinker with the configuration file manually. If you want to get around that,
just go to the web site Ravi mentioned (http://www.easyvmx.com/) select
comfortably the boundary conditions you want your system to provide and have
a blank created magically. Then continue with the player.
I use the player here all the time with various operating systems, and it
NEVER happens that it resets the image to the original state. There may
however be a setting that does that, provided you want it that way. But it's
surely not the default.
