VMware have lot of other tools you can use. Simliar to you can convert VM
image to physical image, vice versa. VMWorkstation give you lot of
portablity of the image. Where as the VMPlayer only plays image, which mean
if you run the image on the VMplayer once you switch off the machine its
goes back to original state. On the VMWare forum , you also can get prebuild
ISO(Image) which you can download and install. Virtual appliances are
pre-built, pre-configured ready-to-run enterprise applications that are
packaged with an optimized operating system in a virtual machine. Not only
are these self-contained application stacks easy to deploy and instantly
available, they are also more secure and reliable. Certified virtual
appliances are optimized to run in production on VMware virtualization
platforms. http://www.vmware.com/vmtn/appliances/
Personally I have feel VMWare is better than Virtual PC. I belive you get a
free License for VMware server / VMware player as well,
Hope this helps..
