As someone who used to work in the printing industry I can tell you that 
you're partly right for posters. I'd however prefer vector graphics if 
possible, especially for logos. There should be plenty of Tux logos around in 
various formats. Depending on the application you're using to compose the 
posters go for either SVG or EPS logos.
