how about doing a show-and-tell?
everyone can present their favourite application, and tell that they
like about it (or why you think it is worth talking about)

apart from talking about pike (which may not be interesting for
non-programmers) i could also show of compiz-fusion, metisse and project
looking glass. (the last is dead slow on my notebook, but it may still
be interesting if you have never seen it.)

if we just get a few people to show any application then we can sure
fill the evening. this may also be a chance for anyone to ask about some
application. (advice, help using it or anything else)

we don't need a formal presentartion to have a good time.

greetings, martin.
