I'm a heavy Internet user. I'm a Web developer and my work requires a
VPN
connection. I use P2P heavily (only for open-source software and other
legal downloads, of course :)). Based on what I've read about products
and
packages offered by various ISPs, I think I'll be better off with Orcon.

Can anyone offer any opinions about Orcon, ihug, or any ISP in the area
that
I might've missed?

Ihug was great until they got sold - then it became impossible to get
anyone on their phones. My experience was that generally I had to wait
more than half an hour to even get a phone answered.

Orcon seems to be giving a very fast download speed most of the time.
However, they have a policy of limiting bandwidth for P2P users during
the hours of about 4pm until about 2am - which was a problem for me
until I bitched - and then the problem went away - (you will find this
policy buried on their website, and they say it is to make life nicer
for those playing games).

Orcon have been proactive in sorting problems. I think the only issue I
have now is that the local telecom exchange may be overloaded and have a
problem, and occassionally the internet seems to "stop" for a while for
no reason.
