Does anyone know if there is a way of having sound work with a remote X clients? I recently decided that my fileserver has far too over spec'ed for what it does (serve files) and then thought to myself, there are a couple of windows computers around the place which could seriously benefit from running certain Linux applications so figured it'd be great to get it all working.... Quick low down on how to get this going as I had difficulty finding all the info on the net: Prepare the computer which is going to be serving up the applications (the x-clients): edit sshd_config, look for the line saying X11Forwarding and set it to yes (if not already). restart sshd_config (i.e. /etc/init.d/sshd restart) Install cygwin on the windows machine (don't worry about adding anything except for the X11 base). Run cygwinbasedir\usr\X11r6\bin\startxwin.bat Get PuTTy and configure it to connect up to the machine you're going to be using for the xclients - make sure that X11 forwarding is on. (You'll find it in Connection > SSH > X11). Run the PuTTy session and run a x-client - everything should now be as good as a good thing. Except... well... I still don't have sound. Any clues anyone?
