[AuckLUG] Laptop tracking software

Exactly. I thought a small schedule that would write home to a database
every 10 minutes would be ideal. Thing is, I'd really like to use the
built-in webcam to get some snaps, and some screenshots too. Ideally I
could set a trigger on the server that would tell it to start updating
immediately to get a better idea of who has it and what they're doing
with it.

A plus would be automatic open wireless network detection on the off
chance it's brought within range of an unsecured hotspot. That's where
things start getting hairy.

It seems like a good idea to leave an unlocked user account on the
machine to make it more convenient to use the existing installation and
preserve the tracking script.

I can probably find some scriptable screenshot and webcam apps out
there. I'll post the results if I get anything working.

Cheers
Justin
