No I don't, but it seems like a simple soltuion to implement. 

Have a notebook automatically contact home base with it's ip address whenever it connects to the internet. Would certainly take care of the less savy theives. 

Once the notebook checked in notice could be passed onto the police who could chase it up through the isp? 

www.no-ip.com uses a similar concept for providing 'static' ip addresses to people who only have a dynamic ip address to work with. You {might} even be able to borrow their script.

Hello everyone

This is going to be a bit off-topic, but does anyone know of a laptop 
tracking service for windows? That amusing article about the guy who was 
nicked stealing a macbook made it seem like a worthwhile investment. I 
was wondering how well these services interact with NZ police or if 
there's a local service.
