Hi all,

Vadacom is looking for a Linux engineer who is passionate about Asterisk 
PBX, Linux and open source technology. This person will join a current 
team of two full time plus two contract engineering and software 
development staff. The team is lead by Nic Bellamy, whom most of you may 
know from the NZLUG or this forum.

You should possess an ability to clearly and accurately communicate 
technical concepts to other technical people as well as communicating 
with non-technical clients. You should have a compulsion to learn new 
things.

We are also looking for some or all of the following skills:

*  Installation, configuration, maintenance and patching of Linux 
systems in general, Debian in particular.
*  Compiling custom kernels, sorting out device drivers, interrupts, etc.
*  IP routing, network address translation. Bonus: understanding policy 
routing, dynamic routing.
*  Stateful firewalling with iptables.
*  VPNs - OpenVPN is used primarily, but IPSec knowledge would be useful.
*  Quality Of Service (QoS) configuration, testing and management, both 
Layer 2 (802.1p) and Layer-3 (ToS/Diffserv)
*  VLANs (802.1q)
*  VoIP: Asterisk PBX,  Some understanding of SIP / IAX protocols, 
codecs, the like.
*  Testing and debugging of the above with things like 
hping/nmap/tcpdump/ethereal/other tools of choice.
*  Enough of an understanding of the software side of things to be able 
to use things like strace/ltrace to debug otherwise tricky software issues.
*  Basic programming knowledge; at a minimum, being able to write 
reliable shell scripts (ie. good error checking and handling).
*  Experience working in environments where server downtime costs money.
