I can only say we had several of these running PocketPC at work and they were 
very troublesome when they ran flat, which was usually not too many days 
after they were left unattended. I suppose the abuse the batteries had had by 
then probably didn't help.

Ah yes, the venerable Compaq bootloader, which is completely unmaintained at 
the moment (and has been for years, sadly). Displaying something useful on 
the h5400/h5500 was something that noone ever got round to implementing.
