6 months ago I would have recommended the Palm TX, but the screen on
mine got cracked, it has a pretty flimsy cover that does not provide
enough protection. If it's web browsing you are after then you could
look at a Nokia N800, they call it an internet tablet. It has WiFi, runs
linux, GUI is gtk based so there are plenty of apps for it, including a
light version of firefox (or mozilla, can't remember which), there is
also a version of skype for it. It has 2 SD card slots on it as well for
extra storage. It retails for approx 350 US on amazon, I haven't found a
local retailer. I have read some good reviews about it too.
