You should need only the first. Anything additionally can then be sucked off 
the net by the package management.

BTW, on a box like that (server) you should disable whatever is not necessary, 
as it poses security risks. The beauty of Debian is, that the default is 
usually more tight with stuff rather dis- than enabled. May not be as newbie 
friendly this way, but it's the more secure and professional way of doing 
things.

And: Do you REALLY need an ftp server? FTP is usually one of the single most 
vulnerable services on the net. And setting up a proper FTP server (if one 
must) with security in mind is not simple (chroot environment is highly 
suggested), and goes well beyond installing and configuring a server package.
