PS: Details from the website restated here for your convenience:
Linux Installfest
Our second Installfest will be held on Sunday, 6 May 2007, from
10am to 3pm. Linux savvy volunteers will be there to help you install
Linux on your machine. Ubuntu CDs will be available, if you want to
install any other distro please organize your own CDs. We will book a
room on campus with plenty of power outlets and ethernet ports. All you
have to do is bring your machine to us (including all hardware you want
to use with it, i.e. monitors, keyboards). If you want a dual boot
system and you already have another OS installed, please run
defragmentation before coming to us AND BACK UP YOUR FILES. As
installation and configuration can take a while we will not take any
newcomers arriving after 2pm. If you plan to attend, please reply with
your name, type of machine (desktop, laptop), and what time you will
arrive. We cannot guarantee to help anyone who hasn't notified us ahead
of time.
Linux Beginner Tutorial
Our second Linux Beginner Tutorial will be held on Monday, 7 May
2007, from 4pm to 5pm in UG4 (Building 303 Room 105). We will introduce
you to the basics of finding your way around Ubuntu Linux using the
command line, how to edit a file, how to login to remote machines, and
how to move files between machines. All you're required to know is how
to use a keyboard and mouse. No need to bring anything, materials will
be provided in the tutorial. Reply with your name. In case that more
people show up than we have room for, preference will be given to those
who signed up in advance.
