[AuckLUG] request for help: new digicam into dapper

Hi,

my dad is running Ubuntu Dapper Drake 6.06 LTS for stability and maintenance 
reasons, so we don't really want to upgrade to a more recent ubuntu version.

But unfortunately due to his latest broken camera, he's bought himself a new 
one, a Canon PowerShot G7, which is not in the list of supported cameras for 
gphoto2 as shipped with dapper :-(

I guess as it's using PTP like many others, it'll just need to be "made known" 
to the gphoto2 sub-system.

The following is what I got from lsusb, so I guess the ID "04a9:3125" is what 
needs to be added with some description to some configuration file.

Bus 004 Device 007: ID 04a9:3125 Canon, Inc.

Any ideas besides the obvious upgrade to a more recent Ubuntu version?
