Hi All,
I am getting a repeated system crash. After a clean and good
install my system runs for a few days or weeks and then goes down with
the following error...

"Uncompressing Linux...
 OK booting the kernel
 CRC error
Kernel panic - not syncing VFS: Unable to mount root fs on
unknown-block (0,0)"

This system has heretofore run for years with no problems whatsoever but
has suddenly started
this behaviour in the last few weeks,Thank the Gods I do good backups
but I'm getting tired of
re-installing the whole thing which is the only way to get the kernel up
again and the whole thing is freaking me out.

I seem to remember CRC error from way back as a hardware thing on old
HDD's but this is a near new WD 80g ,could it be a disk problem ?

Please help.
Gaspode
AKA Ron
