[AuckLUG] Unable to see webpage

Balaji:
This is just a guess, but since it's "ads.php", I wonder if there is
some advertisement blocking software in place that's preventing you from
seeing the page. Because it's affecting all browsers, I wonder if you could
have blocked something from a firewall / gateway / router device? Only
having the problem occasionally would be supported by a cycling
advertisement run by the Web site.

Another guess: PHP can be used to either generate an image or retreive
it's data from a place other than a static file on the server (like a
database). This still could be related to a mistake in the code on the
server side. It still seems like it must be somehow related to an
advertisement that changes automatically when you visit the pages at
different times. If you "view source" on the page with the problem, you
might find more clues.

I'm able to load both of the pages you mentioned without problem. I'm
using Adblock Plus. At rediff.com, I'm able to reproduce the problem you
describe if I use http://www.rediff.com/ads.php as the full URL. In other
words, ads.php is a program in use there and it's supposed to do something.

I have, in the past been a little too aggressive with my own
advertisement filtering and found blank pages or been blocked entirely from
pages. This was before subscriptions were available and all ads had to be
blocked my own configuration of the filters.
