[AuckLUG] How to type Non English charactors in Mandriva?

Ah, so Bølge?  For me, not so hard.  I have a compose key mapped on my
keyboard (in place of right-alt) and can use the sequence you
illustrated above. :)

That depends entirely on the input methods that your system supports.
It could be on the 'AltGr' key, or hidden behind compose, or not
available at all.

I don't know Mandrive, but the places to look are:

 - details of your input method; SCIM is the most common one
 - keyboard internationalization and layout options
   - notably, xkb and any setting for a 'compose' or 'altgr' key

The terms above should help narrow things down and get you moving on the
right path, I hope.
