I can probably find out more information about you just from your number 
plate.. the details required for signing up to a gmail account are a lot 
less invasive. Heck, the details you need to sign up are readily 
avalible anyways ;)

1984.. great book, but relating it to a gmail account is a somewhat a 
case of "the sky is falling" IMHO.
