I've got a Sony DVD-ROM DDU1621, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
which is apparently a rebadged liteOn.. works quite well at home.

At work we have Samsung and Sony Units which have both worked with
dvd+rw discs on my linux (Slackware) file servers.
