josiah at SubAtomix ~ $ cat /etc/make.conf | grep FLAGS
LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1,--enable-new-dtags,--sort-common,--allow-multiple-definition,--allow-multiple-definition,--relax
-z combreloc -z muldefs -s"
CFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon64 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer
-fprefetch-loop-arrays -fweb -ffast-math -finline-functions"

^^^ Are 100% safe for building a nice 64-bit system. -fweb ony works
with gcc-3.4.0 or newer, but its worth upgrading though :-)

If you like playing with them then you'd definately be a good Gentoo
user ;-)
