Had the same issue, the ugly hack I decided on using was to to edit the script rewriting the resolv.conf. In Debian it's the /etc/dhclient-script (might be in /etc/dhcp3 on ubuntu) which rewrites your resolv.conf entries every 10 minutes. Editing it and commenting this line should do the trick : 53c53 < mv -f $new_resolv_conf /etc/resolv.conf --- > #mv -f $new_resolv_conf /etc/resolv.conf I haven't tried it on ubuntu so you might have to play around before it works and if you use a latptop you might have to switch forth and back between the two versions depending on the network.
