Ok, ok, I know i'm not in Auckland, but this idea has come up before and 
since youre open to ideas, heres one:

A workshop evening. Linux users (esp people newer to the fray) can bring 
in their systems and get assistance from the group.  I know theres a few 
people whod probably take the LUG up on this should it come to fruition.

An idea for next month perhaps?
