Not at all from personal experience on the basis that I've always gone
for the BT8xx chipset just so that I can decode skytv uhf and watch
the wrestling which I can't justify buying sky tv for, I've always
understood that the PVR series of chipset is brilliant.

The best site for new zealand specific information on setting up the a
PVR chipset (specifically the PVR-500) is:
http://zaf.geek.nz/projects/mythtv/

I've been meaning to ask this question of the rest of this list for a
while now. Does the MCE rating\name or whatever it is, mean that it's
different in anyway whatsoever? Does a PVR-500 work in the same way
and with the same settings etc. if it's a PVR-500 MCE?
