I submit the Monteiths fracas as an example. DB wanted to move the manufacture of Montieths beer from Greymouth to Auckland. This made business sense as they had spare capacity in Auckland.....and preferred to use that rather than invest in a new, larger brewery in Greymouth. People who saw this as typical of how a regional business being successful can often mean it leaves the region that spawned its success. They resented it. I resented it. I started making my own beer and and have done ever since. Other people boycotted the brew. They slagged DB off from pillar to post. But guess what? Sales of Montieths beer went up over 25%....despite the boycott. Should this story be widely covered, the people who use Windows will now know that Software Images is a Microsoft strategic partner....and a good place to go for such services. It could be good for their business as it was for DB and Monteiths. -- Steve Withers <swithers@mmp.org.nz> ------------------------------------------------------------------- To remove yourself from this list, email nzlug-request@linux.net.nz with "unsubscribe" in the body of the message.
