Yeah. You could also knock politely on someone nearby who has cable's door and 
discuss a connection sharing agreement. Where you pay half each of the 
connection then pipe it to your house with 802.11b :D

Or string cat 5 allong the fence line (but that can get nasty and kill NICs)
