I've thought about Walker Wireless. Their website says it works with Linux.

Last time I checked (last year) it was $139 + gst for 256 each way, dynamic
IP, no traffic limit.

Their transmitter is on Mt Sugarloaf (Port Hills). I live in West Melton. I
can make out Mt Sugarloaf through the treetops if I look in that direction,
so line of sight may be doable on the roof (I have a two storey farmhouse).


I've been putting it off for about six months so far due to other priorities
(non computer related).
